Athra: A pioneering Saudi e-platform solely committed to translation, stands as a testament to the transformative power of language. Under the guidance of seasoned experts in linguistics and translation, the platform employs translators to translate articles and books.  Fostering a collaborative environment.

The e-platform has already made a substantial impact, having published over 150 translated books and articles. In a strategic move, it aims to showcase 12 books at this year’s Riyadh International Book Fair, marking its continued growth and influence in the literary landscape.

Rashad Hassan, a co-founder and Saudi writer, emphasizes the pivotal role of translators within the platform. He underscores that “Athra” not only assigns translation tasks but also provides essential materials, training, qualification, and ongoing support to overcome obstacles during the translation process.

Recently, the platform unveiled the second edition of the Athra Project. An interactive initiative enabling translators to translate books and distribute them across various platforms.

In fact, this initiative not only contributes to libraries and e-book stores. It also facilitates participation in book and translation-focused fairs and events.

The Athra Project, as explained by Hassan, concentrates on translating a diverse range of books, encompassing old, contemporary, and children’s literature. It holds exclusive translation rights from prestigious global institutions like Harvard, Chicago, and Princeton universities.

Hassan outlines the primary goal of the project: to empower translators and enrich Arabic translated content. Obviously, the program entails multiple phases. Offering US board-approved translation training courses. And also regular discussion sessions, thorough reviews, evaluations, and the meticulous editing and proofreading of translated works before publication.

Operational on a weekly basis, the Athra Platform collaborates with international publishing institutions. Collaborating to translate and publish one to three articles across all fields of human science. Hassan invites all potential translators, emphasizing the platform’s inclusivity and the selection of individuals showcasing dedication, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.

In essence, ‘Athra’ emerges as a dynamic force in the realm of translation, fostering collaboration, skill development, and cultural enrichment within the Saudi literary landscape.
