Beat Technology has partnered with Cairo-based Arabookverse as its partner in the Middle East to deliver D2C platforms for publishers and audiobook retail solutions in the region.

Ahead of a presence at the Abu Dhabi bookfair (April 29 – May 5), this partnership will see the Norwegians broaden their expansion into MENA for the first time.

The cooperation will see Beat Technology’s tech stack – offering of ebook, audiobook and podcast white-label apps and retail solutions – combine with Arabookverse’s local recording studios, catalogue of 11,000 titles and digital distribution infrastructure, creating a pairing uniquely positioned to deliver the optimum experience for 400m+ Arabic speakers globally.

“The scale of opportunity for audiobooks and ebooks in the Middle East has excited me for years,” says Nathan Hull, Chief Strategy Officer at Beat Technology.

“I’ve travelled extensively across the Levant, GCC and Maghreb for years, waiting for the right moment and looking for the precise partner. Arabookverse has the perfect combination of infrastructure, content catalogue, business acumen and publishing knowledge. Having Ahmed, Ali, Waleed and their team on the ground to navigate culture, language and partnerships is hugely exciting.”

“The interest in audiobooks and digital reading generally in the Middle East has grown immensely over recent years. Beat Technology’s apps and UX are the best we’ve seen,” says Ahmed Rewihel, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at Arabookverse.

“Bringing that expertise into our own offering feels like the perfect combination for publishers, institutions and B2B partners in our region. Both companies have the common target of bringing stories to as many eyes and ears as possible. Together we can really accelerate this into a reality for Arabic listeners and readers putting Arabic literature in a position it deserves.”

Arabookverse specializes in distributing Arabic digital content globally. Their team includes Ali Abdul-Moneim, the founder of Storytel Arabia with over 23 years of publishing experience, Ahmed Rewihel – founding member of Kitab Sawti (Acquired by Storytel) and a seasoned Egyptian entrepreneur with 16 years of publishing and MENA business experience – and Waleed Sameh, a former COO of the first ebook platform in the Middle East powered by Vodafone.
