Jabbour Douaihy

Born in 1949 in Zgharta, a town in northern Lebanon, Jabbour Douaihy is a distinguished academic with a PhD in Comparative Literature from the Sorbonne. He serves as a Professor of French Literature at the University of Lebanon. Over his literary career, he has penned seven works of fiction, encompassing novels, short stories, and books for children. His novel “June Rain” garnered a shortlisting for the inaugural International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) in 2008 and was subsequently published in English by Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing in July 2014. Another of his novels, “The Vagrant,” also earned a spot on the IPAF shortlist in 2012.
