The Gulf University for Science and Technology in Kuwait has announced a new award dedicated to cultural studies, the first of its kind in the Arab region, specifically tailored to this field of knowledge.

The university invites professors and researchers to submit their contributions for its inaugural session for the academic year 2024/2025.

The theme for this session is titled: “Military Conflicts and Cultural Changes in the Arab World: The Arab Spring – The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict – The Civil War in Sudan… etc.”

The university clarified that the winning submission must present a book related to the announced theme for each session, with a minimum length of 25,000 words, and it must elucidate how the research methodologically pertains to the field of cultural studies.

The award will be granted to three winners, with the first receiving a prize of USD 20,000, the second USD 15,000, and the third USD 10,000. The Gulf University for Science and Technology will publish the winning books in collaboration with major publishing houses in the Arab world, Europe, and America, as the award accepts submissions in both Arabic and English languages.

The university emphasized that submissions for this award are open until mid-November 2024. This award is expected to significantly contribute to the discussion of crises and cultural aspirations in various forms faced by Arab societies from the ocean to the Gulf, offering solutions and useful perspectives for institutions and decision-makers.
