“The New Europe is the Middle East”

Until recently, I had not visited Saudi Arabia since before Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud assumed the throne. In addition to the prestige that the kingdom has always enjoyed, serenity, steadfastness and stability have been its hallmarks. This appeared a constant – the product of a social tradition and official mood that had not changed since 1979. (What preceded this date was rather different; even Crown Prince Mohammed knocked on locked doors, promising to rid the country of the Awakening time.)
